Lightbulb Macbook Pro - Buy now, or wait until WWDC in June?

I'm thinking about going portable and making the switch from a desktop to a MacBook Pro. My one question right now is whether I should buy it sometime within the next month or wait until June when Apple has WWDC.

I'm wondering if there is any potential for upgrades to the MBP lineup when WWDC hits. Is it too early for the MacBooks to be updated again and should I just go ahead and get one now? I don't want to spend $3000+ only to have a new model released in 2 months. But then I don't want to spend the rest of my life waiting for the latest model....

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Do you NEED a notebook now? then get a macbook pro, because trust me, it will run 10.5 nicely. I've heard reports that it runs nicely on a powerbook g4 for crying out loud :P

If you are happy to sit on your hands and wait, then by all means, but if you need a portable asap? then there's no reason why you shouldn't get one. hell even the core duo macbook pro are sweet (bar their hardware issues)

Santa Rosa (the new chipset/platform from Intel) should be ready for shipping by WWDC, I'd wait if I were you. I'm waiting on a Mac Pro until WWDC. (not that the Mac Pro is going to necessarily get a new chipset)

I'd wait, plus there is a chance that Leopard and iLife/iWork '07 released so you'll probably get them too.

I'm also waiting for two months until end June. Jut sold my 17" G4 PPC. Yes C2D Macbook pro will do all I need, but chances are at WWDC we will get either Leopard, iLife or Macbook Pro update.
I know you buy a unit today and it's out of date tomorrow, If you're like me, I would be cross if I spent $4k and two months later a new one comes out. If only Leopard arrives June I will buy then so I get it bundled, but will not not wait until Sept to a laptop upgrade for either processor, backlit screen, improved resolution on 15" etc

See this link also http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...pod_nanos.html

Waiting.......

If it's only 8 weeks away then I'd wait. I have always had much more longevity out of my desktops than any laptops I've had but if mobility is your primary concern then wait for 8 weeks and then see what pops up. Whats the harm?

Wowa, 11 replies in about an hour.

I don't NEED it now, but I WANT it now :P. Anyways, I shall wait. The least I can hope for is a small upgrade of something, or maybe a slight price drop.

(Hey Disko - It has been a while .)

I'm waiting.

I'm keen for a 15" MPB with

Santa Rosa chipset
LED backlight
200GB 7200rpm HDD

Or I'd be happy with a minor upgrade of the current one with the new Samsung 200Gb 7200rpm drive and a price cut.
