This is to do with a Black Stock MacBook.
OK. First of all The MacBook battery when inserted in the computer it does not sit in-line with the macbook but instead i sits about less than a 1mm or so in the MacBook if you get what I mean.
Secondly I have two "Install Disc 2" discs inn the box, it didnt come with a Disc 1 for some reason. I have checked the content of the discs incase it was mislabeled and they were not mislabeled.
I only purchased this MacBook on Friday (yesterday). Should I take the MacBook back to the NextByte store in Surfers Paradise where I bought it or should I get Apple to ship me a set of new discs (and the battery if it is not normal for it to be like i described).
Thanks.
Jeff

No problems there.its a minor issue and its extreamly common on any laptop not just Apple ones

Its up to you what to do there.is it really worth getting a new system just because of that ?
if you have already set up your account and apps etc it would be easier just to get new discs from apple in my opinion

It;s no problem for me because I have only just instaled microsoft office and all i have really done is copied my stuff from a backup hard drive of my users folder. Also I have found that there is a weird problem with the sound as if there is something wrong with the sound. see attached file. If anyone here owns a macbook maybe you could verify if this is normal. I can't take it to the store i bought it from. I bought it here in queensland and we are leaving to go back to newcastle nsw tomorrow morning

Before the cool off period ends, (10 days) you can take it any Apple Centre - along with your Invoice... seriously...

Take it back STRAIGHT AWAY while it's still in the DOA period. Then, if something is screwed, you'll get a new one.
Was the box completely sealed as it should be?

The box was completely sealed. Everything was. I noticed this as soon as i got home and didnt take much notice of it, but now that I jave really noticed it I am going to take it back first thing Monday morning. Can anybody confirm with that audio file that something is not right?

Re sound file: Are you serious? Is that some sort of clipping there? If so, yes you have problems - big problems.

RE: SOUND.
Yes, it souns like the speaker is rattling. My 12" PowerBook had the same speaker config that the MacBook's now have so I know how it is meant to sound! lol
Do you think that the NextByte store will try and argue out of replacing the machine or are all these errors enough for them to give me a new machine under Apple's DOA?

Sounds like the lemoniest lemon around, and that certainly ain't no Apple.
p.s. I reckon it's been dropped from a great height - can't explained the core duo discs but.

Was that intended to be funny or did I just look at it that way. Like Core Duo, 2 identical discs? If you get me, or is it just too late for me to still be on the computer LOL.

Ok. I picked up my new macbook from the NextByte store at Pymble. It's plastic to the left of the isight camera is not attached properly so i have to have it replaced. AGAIN! I bought it at NextByte, but will a MAC1 Store (here in newcastle where i live) replace it too under Apple's DOA Warranty?

Oh man, that's what i call a run of bad luck!
Jaffa, next time you pick up a new machine, open it up on the spot and check these things before you take her on home! It's well worth the few minutes..

Should be possible, since applecare for notebooks is available to any applecentre worldwide, but please prove me wrong if it ends up that way, as i'd be curious myself
