There seems to be a few problems with the Rev A MacBook... I assume many people's attention is on the Rev B. Can the Rev B release be roughly estimated? How long does a revision B usually take for Apple?

Cheers, Dave

The merom Core 2 Duo is set for release in August so they'll release new revisions of the iMac and MBP soon after that I'd say.

Usually as soon as you've received your order for the Rev A ...

 That is too true...

Yes the Rev A Macbook does have a number of issues. I'd imagine Apple will rectify these silently through the manufacturing process rather than through publicly releasing a revision. As for Rev B, I'd say if its gonna happen this year it'll be in November, but early 2007 is more likely.

is it going to be a trend that apple will upgrade processors in each revision now that they've changed to intel?

i mean, imagine if every revision of the ibook was upped a G (i.e iBook G4, then G5, then G6) everytime they release an upgrade. i'd prefer having a more stable, proven platform. i understand technology constantly changes though.

are the revision releases random or at a set amount of months/years per release?

I know what you mean, but in this case, the iMac and MBPs will be pretty much due for a revision anyway. It will be 8-9 months since they were launched.

I don't think it's as necessary for the MBs or Mac Minis to be revised then though.

The MacBooks are less than a month old; if any updates occur in the next couple of months, I'd expect them to be minor and not widely announced. Instead, sites will start reporting subtle changes to casing, serial numbers or whatnot.

The MBP would likely fall into this category as well - for the next month or two. It's already running a faster CPU than the iMac, and nobody knows what the pro desktops are going to spin until August. Let's say September for the MBP, and Late October for the MB.

The iMac should be seeing an incremental bump at anytime - probably to 2.1Ghz, in line with the MBP. As for the Mini's - no idea, so lets say July for a bump.

Why couldn't Apple just bring out a Rev A that worked? Do they forget to test them or something?!

Oh, just ignore me. I'm having a winge.

In this case the new CPU is a drop-in replacement, Apple don't need to re-engineer the logic board.

I think they would update much quicker than before since Apple is with Intel now, I think according to Mac Buyer, the average was about 100 days to update PB and iBook, and I would expect same length of time for Intel-Mac (or even quicker).

Core 2 Duo is due to release (count on it), once Vista comes out, most PC will update their lineup too, (Apple might do the same).. OSX 10.5 will come early next year I think.. 3 update within a year perhaps~
