Popped into Hurstville, NSW for a peep at a black unit.

Certainly shows all the finger prints and marks.. nice looking machines though.

The heat was caused only by the OS running no apps, was however plugged into mains. I will try to post some pics of the paint issue, just looks like it hasn't been completely covered or some immense rubbing has rubbed it off, spoke to Apple Support and they are more than happy to fix and they haven't heard of such things and were vey apologetic so I am all happy, just hope it doesn't take too long to fix.

I would call that DOA!!

Got my new blackbook home and guess what, damn hot, too hot to touch near the screen and the black paint is coming of near the catch and I can see the white underneath. Apparently I may have to wait to get the outer case replaced rather than getting it swapped out.

Wow! That seriously sucks.

I thought Apple had a 14-day DOA / "not happy" policy... Can anyone clarify?

Are you really sure it's black paint? I thought they were made of rubberized black plastic?

14.3 Service: You may have the product repaired; however, once serviced, the product is no longer eligible for replacement.

played with one at chadstone - very nice - and angry at the same time as the department i work for pushed through my 3 year ibook replacement lease a month early (to eat up old ibook g4 stock i feel). would much prefer the macbook hands down - find the 14" a bit heavy (had a 12" previously)

i loved playing with the comic life program that was installed with it. so much so i bought it for the kids to play with in the classroom!! or was that for me to play with??? :P

Saw a Black MacBook in Chatswood Mac store today. It looked pretty good...given everyone was playing with it, the finger prints weren't too bad.

My only issue with it (and the white one) is the fairly large border around the display...makes it seem clunkier than it should...

Still debating on whether this is a reasonable replacement for my trusty 12" PowerBook (1.33 GHz, but still going strong)...

Has anything seen a black MacBook in Australia yet?

Yep, in my lounge room. ;-)

Very nice little machine, and I don't seem to have any of the reported problems with mine *touch wood*.
