Just a little doubt to get this new MacBook..

Do you guys think it is worth to get MacBook or.. Should I wait *maybe* later Apple might release MacBook that replace PowerBook 12" ..

As far as I see, this MacBook does not really as powerful as PowerBook used to be..

The new MacBook besides Video Performance (UT 2004 tests had average fps down to 16-17 from low 20's with the 12' PB) had outperformed in I think most if not every other test..

Don't wait. The 13.3" is the replacment for the 12" Powerbook, the top of the line one is as 'powerful' (in CPU) to the low end macbook pro.

This machine is faster than the 12" powerbook it replaced. Updates to the lines will be ages away. Apple will now be looking at PowerMac's and xServes. Then Mac Mini and iMac will be in time for updates!

Sorry henhen, you're not alone in this, but it's really starting to get a little silly...

I really think that someone needs to start a collection jar, so that everyone who wants a 13 inch MacBook Pro or someother 12 inch Powerbook replacement that is NOT the MacBook, and refuses to accept that the MacBook is that replacement, should contribute $1.

By the looks of things, that jar would end up with enough dough to buy me a MacBook today, or give Apple enough R&D money to make this mythical machine by the end of the month

The MacBook is superior to the 12 inch Powerbook - integrated graphics, glossy screens and a slightly larger form factor are not necessarily downgrades. In every other way it absolutely destroys the 12 inch Powerbook.

But, still it doesnt have shiny Aluminium casing.. which looks cool though. Its only on Pro lines not the MacBook.

Maybe i'll get the black one, which might be worth to get and to replace my *used to be powerful* powerbook..

It's the same way that Apple had replaced the popular iPod mini line with the nano. Some preferred the aluminium casing along with the choice of different colours.

Either way, I remember reading an interview with one of the marketing directors or someone like that mentioning that the macbooks are the replacement for both the iBook and the 12" powerbook. I don't know why you would complain of this machine. Coming from a 15", this is seriously a lot more portable. Got more battery life, has an iSight, and even lets you max out with 2 gigs of RAM.

So to answer the topic, definitely. Goes with any gadget. When you want something get it. You will be playing the waiting game for whatever. If the current macbook doesn't satisfy your needs, then try and figure out what your biggest priority is when it comes to a machine. If size is such a big factor over performance, then you will have to be satisfied with the 12" alubooks.
