Hi,

I just went to my local apple reseller to get my power supply replaced as it doesn't seem to want to charge my powerbook anymore.

I thought to myself this has got to be under warranty, seeing that my powerbook still has a years warranty left. Well thats what I thought anyway.

Last year I had my logic board replaced because of a faulty ram socket and when I got a print out of all my warranty information. The laptop had been purchased on the 16/04/2004 and been bought with a Apple Protection Plan so this means my warranty went up to 16/04/2007.

So today I go in to get the supply replaced and they put my serial code into the Apple database and what does it say!! Warranty Expired.

Well after hearing this I was so happy . Apple always stuff things up when it comes to me. So now I have to stuff around trying to find a receipt which I do not have because I got the laptop second hand from ebay.

AppleCare HAS to be registered. Buying Apple care and a computer at the same time does nothing: you (or the person you bought it off) must send in the registration card for Apple to acknowledge that the Applecare is linked to that specific machine.

Check with the person you bought it off that they sent in this card. If they (or you) did this, then Apple would have sent back a confirmation, with an APP Enrolement number.

Apple will be able to then cover the machine if you have the enrolement number.

Yeah it was registered as last year when I had the logic board replaced on the Apple database it had warranty until 2007.

The database went under a upgrade about 6 months ago and my AppleCare details have been lost.

I'm trying to find out what went wrong but I cant get in contact with the person that I purchased this computer from.

What happen to the print out you got if you have that it would prove that your apple care is valid

I have been able to get the original receipt from Next Byte in NSW.

On the original receipt it says that the computer was bought on the 21/07/2004. So I dont get how it can say on the Apple database that the warranty ran out on the 16/04/2005.

I was told by Apple that all I have to do is take the receipt down to the local apple reseller and they can get it fixed up for me.

Hopefully it all gets sorted..

I'm not sure if anyone has the same problem as me, but on the Apple website I have ABOSOLUTELY NO applecare listed. However, Apple just sent me a letter recently congratulating me on my succesful registration. Should I be worried that I might bump into similar problems like you unlucky fellas?

HighPingBastard go here http://www.apple.com/au/support/ and on the right hand side there is a place to type in your serial number. It'll tell you what apple has down as your remaining warranty.
