I noticed a few months ago a mark on my screen (powerbook) and I'm pretty sure a piece of fur from my cat has lodged itself under the display of my screen, on the right of the screen. Extremely annoying.

Is it possible for this to happen? Is it possible to have it fixed? Can you remove a display or pull it apart or whatever? (professionally obviously). And would it cost much? As I use it for design it really is quite distracting...

I am not really sure what you mean, are you telling me that the is a line on the screen that looks like a cat hair? as in the hair is under the glass(screens are made of glass right?)? I don't think that this is possible

Yeah, that's what I thought - but the mark has actually moved! I'm pretty sure there IS a cat hair under the screen or glass or plastic or whatever it is.

I've come across quite a few LCD panels that have small hairs lodged under the hard outer coating of the screen - even though the plastic housing was very well sealed, somehow they always make their way inside

The screen can be dismantled (professionally) of course, but not without great difficulty - it would cost a couple of hundred in labour to get it apart.

So you're either left with the hair (can you shake it loose?) or a slightly warped shell once the screen is dismantled!

I have the same problem on my Powerbook - haven't worked out what I'm going to do with it yet.

Transport yourself back in time to before the hair happened and get rid of the cat!

You cant get a blower brush or something and maybe blow air through the cracks to move it out of the way?
