This has only just started but now everytime (without fail) that I pick up my PB with my left hand picking up the front left corner of the PB, everytime it does the 'grey screen of death' and tells me to hold down the power button to restart, its only just started doing this and its really anoying cause thats how i normally pick my PB up, any ideas as to what may be wrong??

12" PB 1.33 osx 10.3.9 built in ram and HD

Sounds like a logic board problem to me. When you pick up the powerbook you flex the logic board and something loses contact with something else.
(Take my advice with grain of salt. I'm not an Apple Tech)

Get it checked out unless it is out of warranty.

There is always other option. Pick it up with your right hand!

As a general rule of thumb people should be careful with picking notebooks by a single corner.

I know with my iBook and I am guessing the Powerbooks are the same, the hard disk is situated on the front left hand corner. That's a lot of weight and pressure being applied to a hard disk.

I would agree with limpboy, it's probably a logic board or a hard disk issue.

Loss of connection is obviously the problem.
It may be associated with weight distribution related by pick up point but it is still a loose connection which needs to be found and repaired.
Damage may occur if left in this state.

Try buying a second hand car.. Every one drives differently .. worn in by their owners.

Thankfully my PB has extended warranty, my HD has also recently started making a ticking noise/vibration where I can feel it searching for things under my left wrist. This ticking problem leads me to believe that it maybe HD related, but having said that it does crash as though a PCB inside is flexing and causing disconnection because it is so sudden once the particular area is pressed from the bottom. The sad thing is picking it up with my right hand will not crash it at all
i have nutted it down to an area approx. 50mm x 50mm from the front left corner of the powerbook that will cause it to crash if depressed from the bottom.
Its crap cause now i realise how often i actually (naturally) pick the PB up like that (cause the bloody thing crashes when i forget momentarily about the problem).
It may also have two problems with it ie. the HD is close to failure as well as a fault on the logic board?? who knows, its going back to Nextbyte on Monday and if they have to replace the HD i will be asking them to give me the broken one back, cause at least that way I know that the data on it (retrievable or not) is in my hands and not somebody elses
Also i backed up my whole PB internal drive to a 60GB partition of a new 250GB external FW HD so i can continue to work (by getting my powermac to start up using the PB's back up disk) for the time that my PB is in for repairs at NextByte
Any other advice or thoughts on this situation would be appreciated, if you think i haven't thought of something.
Cheers from Matt
