G'day

Just got to thinking about my Newton... and the fact its only connection was serial... so thus can't connect it to my eMac or Pismo...

Can the Newton 2000 connect to the Pismo via infrared?

What do I need to make it happen?

Cheers

Travis

The Newton came with "Connection" software to instal on your Mac so it would talk to the Newton via the serial connection... Is this same software what's needed to make the Mac listen via the IR port? Just thinking how on earth to get that onto the Pismo, with no floppy drive... (IF the disks still work)

The Newton uses a different IR protocol to your Pismo. There are drivers available at UNNA <http://www.unna.org>, but there are other soutions to consider. You can make your Newton go wireless, or even use bluetooth (not sure if the bluetooth version syncs yet). Best place for Newton info is the Newtontalk email list <http://www.newtontalk.net>. The remaining Newton gurus are on this list.

BTW, they are even writing a Newton emulator to run natively on top of a current pda!
