I've just entered the world of Mac and so far enjoying it. I've got myself the 14"ibook superdrive and it's only 2 weeks old. The guy I live with also has recently bought the 15" powerbook. Both units are wireless and at the moment we are only using dial up which I think is a waste with such beautiful machines. Now I really have no idea about broadband apart from a quick call to Optus yesterday and after talking about what I thought was a good and cheap broadband he then went on to tell me that Optus ADSL boradband does not support Apple macintosh...??? What I am really after is some advice about who I should pick and what we need to buy...? We both have wireless laptops so we really don't want to mess around with wires and we only want a 12 month contract because we will be moving on after that. Any suggestions... Thanks in advance

Check out BroadBandChoice.com.au - all your answers are there.
Also - most ISPs obly have 6 month contracts. With the way prices are dropping, you wouldn't want to be in a contract for any longer than that.
Internode are very popular and quite Mac friendly.
I'm with aaNet, and have found them to be good.
TPG are cheap, but people I know have had problems, and their customer support apparently stinks.
And stay away from Dart... they simply suck (IMO)

I run 2 Macs and 2 PC's on OPTUS and it works well. OPTUS does work on Mac's they just don't have anyone on their help desk that can help you configure it. But do your homework and make a choice based on your level or expertise in setting it up and supposed customer support and price of course!!

As previously stated. Read Broadbandchoice and make your own decisions. For ADSL broadband, plenty of good plans.. much better then Optus ADSL pricing. Mark my words.
I could say XYZ is good, but seriously you must do your own research. For the record though I am with WestNet (and support wise they kick butt). Previously I was with Netspace (and support wise they sucked, especially when my ADSL was screwed and I was trying to get it fixed).

BroadBandChoice.com.au is definitely the place to look!
I'm with TPG... cheap and quick! Their support was actually great (I thought it'd suck). Very helpful and I was up and running in no time. I did need them to tell me some settings over the phone, as the install disc doesn't work on OS X.

Another vote for Internode here. I dont ever plan on leaving them as a customer, that should tell you heaps about their support and quality of their service :-)

Just don't ask them for assistance or get their wireless router deal as they have absolutely no clue when it comes to what does & doesn't work.
I'm with iiNet - no complaints at all

Just check out whirlpool ( www.whirlpool.net.au), it'll answer all your questions!
Oh, and my vote is for Netspace!

I'm with Netspace, and have been happy with their overall service, all though lately browsing has been quite slow.
I am on a WinXP machine btw.

I've been with TPG - service is okay. But once you have any problems, the tech line is so poor that sometimes you can't even get through (just hear an engaged signal).
Moved to Ozemail / iiNet. Absolutely no problems whatsoever.
