Default 24" second screen for iMac

Hello,
I am considering purchasing a 24" second screen for my iMac, and I'm just trying to make the final decision before buying. I already have a 17" one that is in portrait mode at the moment which is quite nice for sticking a webpage or document up on but annoys my sense of symmetry and is too horizontally small to fit much more than one thing on at a time. I don't do anything that really needs one at all I just like dual monitors and it does make it easier to do many things at once so yeah.
This is the monitor I'm looking it - Samsung 2443BW - $439.00 - Scorpion Technology
Do dual 24s just feel too big, because I'm worried about that as it really will be massive. Luckily I do have the desk space for it so at least that isn't a concern. I'm just looking for general opinions.
Thanks,
Sam.

I run a Dell 24" with my 24" iMac, perfect i think.

i often run Fusion (Vista) in the Dell screen and OSX in the iMac.. its also handy to have 2 full screen browsers open when comparing things etc.

I'll be purchasing a second screen soon for the 24" iMac i just bought, I've been using dual screens for about 8 years so its hard going back to just one!

I was also looking at that samsung model or the LG which is a bit cheaper. Unfortunately not many around with good height adjustment that will match the same height as the imac.

Samsung LCD Displays are pretty griscilious.

24" / max resolution of 1920 x 1200 / Viewing Angle of 160° by 160° / connection via D-sub, DVI and HDMI / and comes with Tilt, Swivel, Pivot, Height Adjustment.

IMHO - 24" is too big, and up close and personal, it's an eye sore, so I stick to 19" models. They're just right and they don't block out my peripheral vision or take up way to much space, next to my scanner, other computer and the wall.

2x 24" screens are definitely wider than you can see/read comfortably, unless you have very good eyesight.

You can still use them, but you'll be turning your head a lot so I suggest offsetting them at a slight angle to each other, not 'flat' on the same plane.

I would strongly recommend against getting a samsung screen. I've had to replace a samsung 24" 4 times in the last 6 months.

Spend a bit more and get a proper S-IPS lcd.

1) Portrait mode rocks.
2) As your iMac has an IPS-technology screen in it, you are going to want to buy an IPS for your second screen as well. Believe me, the difference between the two will be incredibly noticable.

I agree I have had 2 diffrent Samsung models and I have had issues with both. With both (22" and a 27") I had DOA's and then had issues with the replaced screens as well. Both are ok now but it is scary to think how many screens I have had to go through until I got 1 that worked.

Samsung are not as good as they once where.
