Its not a scam - i have 2 or 3 in the past from unlimited space, and I also use them for my hosting

It's a clever promotion to lock you into using them as their domain registrar and host.  Make sure you find out how much their normal domain renewal fees cost, and their hosting fees, once your free 1 year time is over, and how much it costs to transfer your domain to another cheaper registrar. You do know you can register .com domain names for quite cheap nowadays.

I registered a domain with them last time but they charge you for DNS hosting... With another registrar I pay about the same as I would with unlimited-space for both the DNS hosting and domain name itself.
I've been in the (awful) process of transferring my domain from unlimited-space to another registrar for several months now and it's still not complete.
