That's because they had a professional expert running the mouse & keyboard. People were not given a machine and asked to actually do something, or play, or do what they would normally do with their own computer. They had someone who was doing stuff and they got to sit back and watch.

No wonder people liked what they saw... hell, I could make System 9 look brilliant under those sorts of conditions.
