PSP are they region coded?

I am considering purchasing a PSP from the US and had a couple of question:

Does anyone know if the PSP is Region coded?... will Australian purchased PSP games and UMD's work work on the US model?

Any help would be appreciated?

Games are region-free, movies are not (although can you still get recent UMD movies?). A firmware modded PSP doesn't care what you shove in it
