mac mini based digital TV?

I have an old 50's tv that I want to fix up as my main tv, ripping out the gubbins inside and replacing with a cheap 19" LCD screen and a mac mini with a digital tv dongle.

The question is, could I set it up so that when it boots up, the tv software opens automatically, ie so that it works like a tv rather than like a computer? I was hoping I could run it from the remote control, and just have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse just in case. Would this be possible? I was thinking about using an old G4 model, to keep costs down.

Does anyone have any experience of tv on a mac? Is this do-able?

I have a mac mini media centre connected to my projector and when I turn it on, the eyeTV app always starts up and goes full screen. So you should be able to achieve the same thing. I think there is a setting in eyeTV to do it on wake. I just use a apple remote and sometimes the wireless keyboard.

works a treat!
