i don't have much experience in this department, but i've read that it is only possible to it via a (pc) and then install it on the mac
:-)

I've flashed my 108 on my PC with DVRFlash many times with no dramas.
Not sure on the Mac department too.

didn't want to lower myself to a pc, there is a program called flashit v2.0.1 that is basically a script and app for flashing the pioneer drives, but it dosent seem to recognise the dvd-109 (works with the 108).
ive sent a note to the flashit developer, so i might get an answer from him, just wanted to see if anyone else knew of any little tricks. looks like ill have to visit a trailer park and find a peecee owner :P to help me.. (just dont feel comfortable running a firmware upgrade on virtual pc) ps. the ddv-109 firmware is now at 1.40 which should improve DL dvd writing and also adds a heep of 8x-12x-16x discs the drive will burn. pps. patchburn if you have a dvd rom thats finiky, does wonders. ;P

unfortunately. All the roms I've seen for the 109 have been exe's. like here. Or you might like to take a look at their mac forum section which has quite a few topic pertaining to your specific drive.
EDIT: infact. this thread virtually answers your question. Quote:

this .exe is just a compressed and self executable zipped file (stuffit will expand it).
looks like im going to have to lower myself to a PC.. :P

To get it to work with the iapps you will need patchburn or wait to see if tiger helps.

Hi All,
I dont suppose anyone can help, but I have the Pioneer DvR-108 in a Firewire housing connected to my iBook and I was having trouble burning TV eps to a backup disc (Tuffdisc DvD-R).. It would always fail verification in Toast 6.07 (usually but not always the last ep on the disc failing to read when tested) So, I decided to update the firmware thinking that maybe it was 1.4 not the new 1.8... anyway, I download the flashit 2.0, and the firmware .exe and run the script, but it fails.. Saying something about running the program again from the command prompt or something.. (working from memory here).. The upshot is, everywhere I look I see people getting it to work but nobody with my problem, and it doesn't seem like there is very much to go wrong.. Any ideas anyone? Much appreciated, ![]() SW |
