Website for someone not very "website savvy"

Hi there,
My uncle recently had his book published, and wants to set up a site that he can put information about the book, ideas etc on.

Thing is he's not very website savvy - his current site is, well, pretty basic (not to mention gaudy). He wants to be able to add things to it whenever he can, and what he does now is do it up in a Word file and send it to a friend who puts it on his site.

He wants more freedom to be able to set it up how he likes - what would be the best way for someone with no HTML/WYSIWYG experience to do that?

I thought of advising him to get a blog site, like on wordpress or something, but I'm not sure if that's suitable.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

A Wordpress blog would probably be the best idea. It's fairly flexible, and you can make simple modifications to the templates via buttons and menus.

If he's just putting info and such up, yeah, I'd agree that a blog-style site would be the best option.

Wow. Ugly.

If someone can make him a nice template, and has a bit of myphpadmin experience, then the best way would be to install something like lucidCMS.

Otherwise set him up with either a free wordpress blog (wordpress is great), or host a wordpress blog on his current site (host has to have mysql/php).
Wordpress has thousands of free themes available for it. It's awesome. Easy to use too.

there was something on one of the podcasts about website.ws. Or I suppose there's myspace.com. Sells music -- can't be too bad.

Another vote for WordPress

Can be setup a matter of minutes provided the host is running MySQL and php. All you need is a blank MySQL database with a username/password. No knowledge of html is required whatsoever. As others have said, there are literally hundreds of free templates available and many are quite nice. One really nice thing about WordPress is that hackings are a rarity and it is extremely easy to keep updated.

The advantage to wordpress is that there is a two-minute setup and thousands of themes available.. but it might not suit the format of his site.

If someone can make him a single or multi-page html template for his site, it's pretty easy to load it into LucidCMS and then use lucid to edit it ala wordpress. The advantage here is that it's much more flexible in stucture and layout.

If he has a page made up I can help load it into lucidcms..
