A web-based-browser that accepts cookies.

Basically I am trying to help a couple of friends who cannot reply to emails I send them because their local library computers block Hotmail and Gmail sites.

I managed to find the wbb at codelifter.com ( http://www.codelifter.com/main/javas...tbrowser1.html ) but the wbb doesn't seem to accept cookies, thus preventing logging in to Hotmail and Gmail.

It would appear that for Macs, you have to navigate to "browser.html" to get it to work, but that is not much of a problem for the heathens at the library.

Anyway, what I am asking is if there is a web-based-browser I can download and host on a friend's web server (or one already on the web) that can accept cookies and allow logging in to cookie-requiring sites?

Preferably one that I can download because having a wbb that accepts cookies is just asking for spyware and account login stealing and I wouldn't want to sacrifice the security of my friends' access to their email accounts.

Sounds like you are looking for a proxy server.

Check google, there are some available out there.

A proxy server? All I thought those were good for was for downloading files when the host said you were in the wrong country, not for actually viewing web pages...

Hmmm... this might be getting somewhere.

There are heaps of public web-based proxies out there, but almost all block SSL or form POST (which are required for many sites that require login).

One I've found to work well is VTunnel.

http://www.vtunnel.com/

Just put in a URL and click "Begin Browsing".
It works fine with Gmail and is faster than a lot of the other proxies out there.

If the library's internet blocks proxy sites, you can set it up on your own server with CGIProxy. I installed it the other day on my server and works perfectly.

Thank you all for your prompt replys. It would appear that everything is sorted for me... but if others wish to continue to post asking for more links, or supplying more links, then go ahead.

There are about 15 different url's you can use to get to gmail. Most likely they havn't blocked them all so you should be able to find one that works. google it!
