Default GTA IV on PC - How Well Will it Play on a Mac...

GTA IV is now available on PC and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how it will play on a Mac, if at all. I have seen the odd comment here and there saying it should work but not really anything in detail and so I'm thinking now I should really get confirmation before getting my hopes up and whatnot...

I don't have any experience running Windows games on a Mac and so I really have no idea what is possible based on the Windows requirements. If you figure it would work on an Intel Mac how would you say it might fare on an original Intel iMac, what I have, the 2.16GHz one, with 2GB memory?

Well, it requires a heck of a PC. Dual core with a big powerful graphics card, but we honestly wont know until it comes out in a few weeks.

Depending on the graphics card that iMac has, it should run fine.

Graphics card, eh...

It will be out in the US tomorrow, and so we should perhaps have some first-hand answers in much less than a few weeks, I figure. It comes out in Australia tomorrow, too, it seems, going by the EB Games site - I only now just looked into this and I'm surprised.

Oh Okay, I wasnt up to date.

Well...According to wikipedia...

512 MB Nvidia 8600 / 512 MB ATI 3870 is recommended to play GTA IV. So im presuming with a decent processor, a ATI 2600 or equivalent will be fine..

I think, from what you've said, that my computer cannot handle it now. I am very ignorant when it comes to even the simplest points on computers, knowing absolutely nothing of graphic cards and such, and yet I looked into and it seems my computer uses a ATI Radeon X1600, with the VRAM measure saying 128 MB. That sounds a good level below the minimum requirement, which is unfortunate if correct - depressing is what it is.

It will probably be playable at medium-low settings. The game's not that good graphically, after all.

Looking at the spec requirements, it probably won't work, at least not at a playable speed. This is strange since the game is hardly the best looking game out there, and the Xbox 360 is considerably less powerful than those specs.

I wouldn't risk it.

EDIT: The minimum requirements are a 1.8ghz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM and a 256MB GPU. The first gen Intel iMac (whatever size) doesn't meat the GPU and CPU minimum requirements. A current iMac could just run it however.
