Default MacbookPro (1st gen, from 3years ago) and SSDs

I have a 1st gen MBP (MacBookPro1,1) and it has this sata controller in it.
Vendor: Intel
Product: ICH7-M AHCI
Speed: 1.5 Gigabit
Description: AHCI Version 1.10 Supported

I have been toying with the idea of putting an SSD in it (even a 60GB) to breathe some new life into the old girl. All the SSDs are sata-II.

Its coming to the end of its applecare coverage ( which has been worth every penny with 2 superdrive replacements, 1 battery only recently under APP and the LCD replaced)

Will they work, albeit, at sata-I speeds in my MBP?

Thanks,
Chris
