Default White MacBook Crack!

Hey,

Yesterday, I realised that my white MacBook's case had cracked. In two locations as well. They are on the top case near where the magnetic latch sits when the MacBook is closed and on the bottom of the case near where you open the MacBook. This is the second time that this happened, so obviously I'm not very happy.

Seeing that our closest Apple Reseller is over an hour away and that I need my MacBook for school, it can't be repaired right now, as last time it took over a week. WIth the Robina Apple Store opening this weekend and me going to Brisbane in the school holidays would I be able to take my MacBOok to the Apple Store and have it repaired right there on the same day? If you have any knowledge on this, it would be great thanks.

Please use the search feature, this has been discussed extensively here in a number of threads. For example: Apple Admits White MacBook Crack Problem

However, I would think that you'd need to leave your MacBook with the service centre for at least a few days so they can 1/ Assess the damage, and 2/ Order parts if needed. Best thing to do would be contact Apple (do you have AppleCare) and discuss with them in the first instance.

Thanks

If it's only the thin plastic on the top of the macbook case, not the thick plastic chassis, then I talked to my nextbyte store, they ordered the part, and then called me in and it was done in 20 minutes while I waited.

When i had a Macbook a few years ago, i also got cracks . Definitely not something that can withstand day to day activities without cracking. The case is way too fragile, which is why i guess they're repairing them. Still, no excuse for releasing, and still selling, a 'faulty' product.

if you can't afford to go without it now, don't repair it yet and then send it in when you do instead of complaining about down time.

From what I have seeen Apple is repairing this out of warranty so don't sweat just get it done when oyu do have time.

It's weird, as far as I can tell the iBooks were made out of a similar or identical material, and I don't remember as many cracking or discolouration issues with them.

It's finally happened to mine. Noticed the cracking around the right palm rest and on the top case down near the hinge from left to right sides. Tried taking it into the Apple Store today to get it either exchanged or refunded, but no dice. I'm just quickly losing interest in these problems with Apple stuff. Especially seeing the price we all pay for their equipment. Hackintosh is quickly starting to appeal.
