Default Tab key 'unattached'

Don't know how it happened, but the Tab key on my G4 Powerbook has lifted off. I can't see that anything is broken, but I also can't make it attach itself again by pressing hard on it!

Any clues on what I should do?

What parts do you have?

I just ripped off a Tab key from a G4 powerbook to look and you should have the key and two white plastic things that interlock. On the keyboard should be the rubber membrane and four metal hooks that latch onto corresponding locations on the white plastic things.

edit: in the process of re-attaching the key I notice it needs to be placed slightly lower than its normal position...as you push down also push forward and it should lock in place.....presuming you have all the parts of the key and they aren't damaged.

Well, I've got the key and the space on the keyboard, if you know what I mean! It's at home, so I'm not completely sure about a rubber membrane etc. I think the white plastic things are there on the key. Nothing looked broken.

I'll try what you said about putting it on lower and pushing up this evening. Otherwise I guess I may have to get it fixed somewhere ... sigh!

Thanks
