AppleTV/Sony audio problem
Hi All,
I have a Sony Bravia LCD (KDL-46X-3100), and Z5500 5.1 speakers, and today I bought an AppleTV.
I have the Bravia connected to the Z5500's via Optical, and the AppleTV connected to the Bravia via HDMI.
The problem is that the Sony Bravia's don't output 5.1 over optical from anything except DVB (Tuner).
So I connect my AppleTV to the Z5500's via optical (using an optical splitter/combiner) and then i can just leave the z5500's on Optical in.
The problem is, that the AppleTV outputs audio over both Optical AND HDMI, and obviously the TV then sends on a stereo signal over the optical cable, and the z5500's can't decode the signal because it's garbled.
Basically, does anyone know of a way to either disable the audio out over HDMI or the audio in over HDMI on either the AppleTV or the Bravia (respectively)? The only other option i've thought of is to buy an optical switch box of some kind, and then switch inputs, but I'd rather not have to do that.
Thanks in advance!
