Default Macbook price drop

Just having a quick browse through the refurbished macbooks on the apple store, and was kinda surprised by the sudden price drop. Must be announcing a new line up soon

Also noticed that. It's one of the older ones though... what "era" is that model from?

I've been watching them, the white 2.4ghz model has been on for 1487 and the black for 1698. I wonder if they'll drop once the new ones come out.

EDIT Post 1000! WOOT!!!

New macbooks in the US are looking to sell brand new for $899. So I would expect them to drop even more after the update.

So will apple sell the rest of its current stock at a cut price on the apple store?

Or maybe not?
AppleInsider | New photo reveals MacBook Pro, new display also expected

A second source adds that the display is about 24-inches and features a "super thin" base stand. The new 24-inch display may be the mysteriously-priced $899 Apple product that recently turned up in Apple's systems, not a $899 MacBook.

The $899 product is codenamed K29, while all other products on the price list begin with an "M" such as "M96." Apple has traditionally used different codename trackers for its accessory products. For instance, several years ago, its Mac codenames began with a "Q" and its MightyMouse codename started with an "M."

No, as far as Apple is concerned their old products don't exist.

I would be really impressed if prices drop in Australia. The dollar has gone from near parity down to 67 cents, before tracking up a bit. Even if Apple Australia foregoes the evil apple australia tax, AA couldn't drop prices for new models relative to the prices for the old ones if the dollar stays around 70 cents.

edit: I wouldn't be surprised if the price went up.

lets hope that apple australia agreed on a price point before the dollar went low.

There was a White 2.4GHz on for $1,439 a week or two back. Was so close to buying it, but like others am waiting for the update.

So what exactly do they do with all their old surplus stock?

Hmm, all Macbooks gone from the Refurb Store.

Surely they didn't run out of them? Then again they will have no problems shipping them off to retailers who will have no drama selling them at the old price of $1499!

Should have bought the refurb white model last night. No way am I ponying up $2k for a new one, or $1700 for an older model white book.

Looks like the 2nd hand hunt continues

Congrats apple. On monday youre selling current model refurbished macbooks for $1099, and on thursday, decide to jack up the price of the refurbished outdated macbook by $200.

Oh, oh, sorry, its because our dollar is poor. rigggggghhhhhhhtttttttt

That's a fairly deluded statement.
It's the refurb store! That means the gear was in the country BEFORE the price drop.
Apple are making the money back again 2 fold.

God, my heart jumped then when I read this title.

For a second there I thought the OP meant the aluminium Macbooks had a price drop. Would of been spewing as I bought a new Macbook yesterday (delivering tomorrow).
