Yeah, I thought you'd be happy with this topic, considering your last entry was essentially the same thing

The last competition was pretty lax about interpreting the theme. There were only a few photos that really got to grips with the idea of "water". Photos that made me of think about water in a way that wasn't dull or cliched.
iTalk your photos are nice photos of Melbourne but in my opinion aren't photos of infrastructure. They could be used in any competition: "Night shots of Melbourne", "Long exposures", "where have all the people gone?", " Architecture of Australia", "Buildings I love", "Water",
Infrastructure is "the generally overlooked bits that connect the things" rather than the things themselves. That's the roads, bridges, highways, power lines, railway lines, computer wires, tubes, pipes, drains, tunnels, overhead cables, silos, dams, petrol tanks, petrol refineries, substations, gas plants, wharfs, container terminals, airports, huge trucks, cranes etc
To me this competition is about finding interesting bits in an ugly landscape.
I think this competition should be less about "pretty" and more about "ugly".
Get down and dirty.
I want to see lots of ugly photos.

I don't necessarily agree with that. Infrastructure can be dirty as you say or it can be quite pretty. Great shapes and structures as well as lighting can all be associated with Infrastructure and I look forward to seeing some of these this month.
I guess its how you and each other person here interprets the theme of the month is how you will take your photo and how votes are placed, which I think is a good thing with quite a wide range of pictures over the last few months which you may see as 'dull' or 'cliched' but I have found many quite interesting.
I guess I am saying everyone has a different idea of what Infrastructure is and thats what makes these competitions really interesting. Although I do agree with you on iTalk's pictures they are quite loose when it comes to the theme - but I must say I do like the pictures themselves especially the Ferris Wheel one - great colours in that.

In my opinion, none of these are representative enough of infrastructure - either a single entity or a cluster of a type of infrastructure. It isn't my photo comp, i'm only offering an opinion because I work on civil infrastructure for a living. Take it or leave it.
p.s. they are great photos though!

OK. I'm in.
Not a particularly great shot, but at 100 clicks through a windscreen, you can't ask for too much.
