Random photography thread v.2

The old thread had nearly 800 replies and was a dog to get through!

Post your random photos (that you took) in here...

Also would be beneficial to post your camera settings for people like me who are just starting out!

I agree.
I learnt something tonight. Trying to take a photo of the moon without a tripod and shutter release is a right pain in the butt… But it was worth a go because the moon looked pretty cool. Not that it will show in this pic though
Out of about 70 shots, this was probably the best one…

First thing I did when I got home was jumped on ebay to check out tripod and shutter release pricing

Shutter: 1/60
Aperture: f/5.6
Exposure: Normal Program (Yeah I cheated and used the "Full Auto" Setting for a couple of shots. I wanted to see what the camera would do as opposed to the settings I was selecting manually)
Focal Length: 300mm
ISO: 400

Did you also learn that you need a longer lens?

The biggest mistake most people make when trying to photograph the Moon is timing. The closer to a full Moon (when light is hitting the moon head on) the less texture you will see on the Moon's surface...

Here is one of my recent photos - My wife and daughter on a merry-go-round. Taken with my wife's Panasonic FX-55...

Jeremy - the recent fires to the south of Perth seem to have brought about some pretty fantastic sunsets recently.... All I'm saying is watch your back! ;o)

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind for future attempts. Obviously doesn't show in that pic, but the moon looked huge (and orange), which is why I thought I would have a go.

It's all good though, Never learn these things if I don't try, eh?
