I agree.
I learnt something tonight. Trying to take a photo of the moon without a tripod and shutter release is a right pain in the butt
But it was worth a go because the moon looked pretty cool. Not that it will show in this pic though 
Out of about 70 shots, this was probably the best one
First thing I did when I got home was jumped on ebay to check out tripod and shutter release pricing 
Shutter: 1/60
Aperture: f/5.6
Exposure: Normal Program (Yeah I cheated and used the "Full Auto" Setting for a couple of shots. I wanted to see what the camera would do as opposed to the settings I was selecting manually)
Focal Length: 300mm
ISO: 400

Did you also learn that you need a longer lens?
The biggest mistake most people make when trying to photograph the Moon is timing. The closer to a full Moon (when light is hitting the moon head on) the less texture you will see on the Moon's surface...
Here is one of my recent photos - My wife and daughter on a merry-go-round. Taken with my wife's Panasonic FX-55...

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind for future attempts. Obviously doesn't show in that pic, but the moon looked huge (and orange), which is why I thought I would have a go.
It's all good though, Never learn these things if I don't try, eh?
