Unhappy Mac with a crack!

Hi Guys,
my trusty MacBook has developed a crack on the bottom right side below the trackpad! It appeared gradually and im not sure why! Has anyone had the same problem? or have any idea how how much it would be to have a new casing put on it?
Thanks
I just found this picture of someone else's mac but this is what it looks like http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...macrackdet.jpg

Ask your reseller. It won't be cheap.

I am guessing a few hundred. (Really).

The entire bottom case has to be replaced. Just live with it I'm afraid... warranty won't cover you since it is cosmetic damage.

I had the same thing happen to my (I sold it) MacBook.
Crack in MacBook 4 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I got it repaired cos it was still under warranty.

Yes it is a cosmetic issue, but it's a documented fault with the MacBook's.
If it's less that 12 months old, you should be able to get it fixed for free.

Contact whoever it was you bought it from, and they will either look after it, or direct you to who can repair it.

It took about 30 mins to repair, and all I had to do was make sure the shop that did the repair had my Serial Number so they could lodge the warranty claim to get the part before I brought it in.

Hope this all helps.

Sorry, update. I thought you were talking about another crack, on the actual BOTTOM of the case (i.e. the vertical fall from the trackpad).

The pic you showed us was actually the "top" case (that's what they call it... yes it is the keyboard area and palm rest area).

That is covered by warranty, assuming you have it.

ouch, i'd say take it back see if t is covered up warranty. I'm pretty sure they are meant to just crack like that

i know a friend of mine who had similar cracks, and it got fixed under the warranty... It's caused by the 2 embossed bumps on the screen bezel (which is on both sides of the isight camera)... Each time the MacBook lid is closed shut, it puts pressure on the exact places where the cracks occur...

Just had this same 'problem' replaced today - it's what they call the 'top' case, and the whole keyboard, trackpad and everything will be replaced.

What is directly underneath that hole? Should I seal it up?

same thing with mine. both sides though.
got it replaced a few months ago.
then got that one replaced because of a faulty 'w' key and a clicky mouse button.

just make sure you check all of those things.

It's been a problem since they were first released so I doubt it. And make it 11 people who have had the problem (me and my friend at Uni). We both had it replaced but hers has since cracked again and I'm waiting for mine to go again any day.
