Angry Product failure on a grand scale

I am the network administrator in a large Catholic High School I manage 1000 Macbooks and they all have the same cosmetic failure, The cracked and broken keyboard desktop and the front leading edge of the Bezel around the LCD screen is also Cracked and broken. I have been fighting with Apple for more then a year to have these repaired and have now had about half done.

Each year Apple claim to of address the cosmetic failures of the case but I can assure you its not, I still have about 300 outstanding Cosmetic repairs which i have been documenting over the last 26 weeks.

They also suffer other hardware failures on a grand scale like Batteries, Chargers and logic boards out of the 1000 I manage more then half have had the battery and or charger or logic board replaced. this is just at one school I can confirm this is a very very large problem across all education.

Poor form Apple very very poor, own up to the rubbish and step up and fix the rubbish you are flooding the market with.

Default Me too

I bought a MAC BOOK 18 months ago.

The palm rest cracked and broke away two months after the warranty expired.

This following US Law firm is seeking to launch a class action law suit against Apple. You can register on their site to become part of the action to be compensated. There is no cost to you. The lawyers take their fees from any award. If they lose they pay the legals costs. It's called contingency - no win no fees.

If you want to compare you damage with that reported by others. Look at the images here:

My Bezel had a crack in it, I got the repair approved under warranty from apple. Then a few hours later they rang me saying its going to be $52 for a new Bezel.

It went in with only a crack, it came out if a bit of plastic missing. Then a few days later they rang me saying i needed to come in for them to put a new keyboard in. Its only an 18month old macbook, ive had the keyboard replace 3times. I had to get the keyboard replaced the day have I got it. The WDV keys where broken.

Can Australian's really join a US class action suit? I have no legal experience but it seems unlikely.

Thumbs down Apple Failed Warranty Design Faults.

It is about time some, somewhere spoke up about the complete rubbish Apple have been selling off as notebooks! Cosmetic outer case failure on a grand scale, Batteries, Chargers, Logic Board, I can't believe Apple have been allowed to peddle this inferrer product. They have damaged there and the schools reputation to the point there is little credibility left.

Apple must except full liability for this faulty Macbook product come clean about how widespread this problem is and what they are doing about fixing it, Schools will except nothing short of Apple repairing every single Macbook form 2006 till today this wold cover 06, 07, 08 Macbook's we can no longer carry the blame for this non product repair and the time it take to have these repairs approved by Apple. we would expect Apple to honor the Warranty agreement now and in coming years should this fault re-appear, .

If Apple are to continue to sell this product to schools they must take a lead role in this disaster. Apple could for as little as $20 per unit place a hard case over the Macbook which would after the repair protect the Macbook from the same design fault this would turn a $400 dollar repair into a $20 fix.
They continue to blame the use blame the environment when the really need to look in there own back yard, Microsoft have been handed Apply a huge share of the education market through the release of Vista, now Apple are just handing it straight back buy selling rubbish and hiding from the fallout.

Regardless of the apple warranty the Australian Consumers Warranty states that a product must me a meet a reasonable expected consumer standard and it must LAST A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME the Macbook meets neither.

This is an ongoing problem and every year Apple say we have fixed the problem this model will be fine! Only to find the same poor quality product with the same problems every year. They should be made to replace the lot.
