Yes.
Put simply, yes.
Almost every major University has a Graphic Design course, as does almost every TAFE and many Technical Colleges.
…so yes. There are bazillions of courses in Graphic Design.

Unfortunately, most TAFE's (in NSW anyway) don't offer graphic design.
They restructured the course last year amoungst other big changes, then they changed the name of the course to something rediculous.
Now there are very few colleges in Sydney that offer it, and the ones that do, the numbers are so low, that they are considering merging it with Web or Multimedia courses.
This is all crappy. Especially to me, as I had an offer to teach graphic design at the TAFE I attended for 2 years - doing a completely non-related subject. But the offer is gone, because of the above reasons.
It seems that the only way will be to go to a private College and pay stupid amounts of money. But the course is done in half the time it takes at TAFE. I am not sure how these courses operate, or if they are any good either.
Then there's the job hunt. There are people out there with extremely great talents, that get nowhere with regards to the graphic design industry.
Dana, a forum member and active IRCer on our channel has awsome talents, but no job. I'm a total n00b at it, but I can't even find a place that will take me for a week without pay to get a taste of the life.
Places that offer you garanteed work afterwards are a load of bull. Such places have an agreement with job places, or better (or worse) still, own a company that operates in such a way. They send you there, for an interview. If you are one of the good performers.
Then you find you are successful. You have a job for 3 months. on trial.
Times up, they let you go because you don't have that certain flair they are looking for.
Then you are back where you started, with an education, but no (3-5 years) experience that most ads ask for.
Not trying to make you feel bad. This is all from what I have seen and heard.
