Here is some of my recent work both digital and trad.

Recent commission ,work in progress shot. The figure is in "clean clay" 1:3 scale and the rifle was modelled in Lightwave by a gaming student that I met online, final model was converted on my Power Book and e-mailed to a Melbourne based company who printed it out on their stereo-lithography machine.
I love to mix trad. and contemporary methods.

Here is another weapon from that project, original low poly model by the same chap, refined and detailed by me in Lightwave on my PB, final in stereo-lithography resin (1:5 scale). It's an Owen gun, very agricultural design but much loved by the diggers that used them.

Bad photo of last night's life drawing session pencil on paper (my trusty Moleskine sketchbook).
I try to get to a session once a week, it's the best thing there is for honing your skills.

Birthday present this year was a set of colours. I'd kinda feared working with colour because it's been one of my weak points in Photoshop. Pretty happy with it, in the end...

Beautiful work Dana. It almost looks alive.

You just need the reflection of a Velociraptor in the iris :P

Very nice indeed Dana.
What size is the piece and what sort of paper are you using, it seems to take layering of colours very well.

It's Anson 110gsm cartridge paper, and it's about this big:

The layering works a bit funny, it all looked a little washed out until I attacked the whole thing with a few tortillions.

Well I don't think that you need to be nervous about colour anymore, it looks great.

And my first piece that's gone to hang on a real wall! . I did two, one to the bride, the other to her mother. Can't wait to see how they look hanging...

Always nice to get your work out into the world.

I sometimes find it hard to let them go though, the full figure portraits of some diggers that I recently completed (progress shot above) were hard to let out of the studio.
It was over a years work and in that time they came to be my friends.

I can see that - and I think I'd find it difficult to part with my dinosaur images. Those I felt I was doing for myself, as it's what started me drawing.

As for the portraits, there it's all about the people. To make someone else buzz happily with them makes me squee internally with such joy - besides, they're from wedding photos, and I see my role as just one part in the whole process. The pics are now where they should be in that case.
