I got the gray rectangle too, but I left it running anyway and next morning it was waiting for a postcode... it's worked fine ever since.

Doesn't work for me either :-(
I'm just getting the grey rectangle with no 'i' symbol and inability to refresh when I press CMD+R.
Running 10.5.1.
I looked in console and noticed this error popping up, seeming to coincide with when I was loading the Movies Australia widget:
"3/12/07 6:41:45 PM [0x0-0x8008].com.apple.dock[243] 2007-12-03 18:41:45.440 DashboardClient[425:4407] ERROR: __CFURLCache::StepSQLStatement - step failed (exceed retry) - ErrCode: 5 "

I'm still unsure why this works for some people on Leopard, but not others. I've deleted all traces of the widget on my machine (eMac G4 1 GHz) and reinstalled it a number of times, downloading directly from my own website, and it always works fine.
One outside possibility may be a conflict with the old (i.e. Tiger) prefs file. Please follow the directions here to be absolutely sure you've deleted any old prefs file. It seems Spotlight doesn't find these files in Leopard, so you'll need to browse manually for files starting widget-com.tamham... or com.tamham....

In an attempt to resolve this, I visited a local Mac retailer today and discreetly downloaded and installed the widget on an iMac on display. I entered a postcode, hit enter, clicked done. A few seconds later movie session times appeared.
Good news is that the widget seems to run fine on both iMacs and eMacs running Leopard. Bad news is this means I'm no closer to resolving issues reported above by some users.
Only thing I can suggest is that people again check that outgoing internet access is not being blocked by a firewall/little snitch/router or equivalent.

...and yes, the widget spins around automatically when first run to ask for a postcode.

I've tried running this on an Intel iMac and a PPC Powerbook, both running Leopard, neither produced any results using my postcode "3072" I just got the grey box, however, when I changed the postcode to 3000 I got results. There is a cinema complex in 3072 (Hoyts, Northland), I assume other cinemas will be added later. This may be the reason others are not seeing anything ... are all postcodes covered?

iSilver. I can't replicate on an intel leopard.
Funnily enough I live in Preston. Same postcode!

its true, hit return after entering the postcode, and it starts working ...hopefully will be fixed when the next build comes out.
