Default Itnernet connection in Perth

Hi all,

I am looking for the internet connection in Perth, Bayswater. I use Three Huawei modem but I would like to have "normal" connection. I have found many and many providers and I am baffled now. I used to use unlimited cable connection in my home country for $20/month. I have Airport express with iTunes. Should I buy just ADSL modem and will it work together? I can spend 60-80 dollars per month for it. No contract, no phone. What provider is the best or close to be the best ? What I will pay?
Thanks and sorry for my English.

Hi. I know iiNet do 'NakedDSL' which means you do not need a phone line. Check out their website: iiNet | naked dsl - adsl - broadband - voip - phone

iiNet | naked dsl - adsl - broadband - voip - phone have a look at their naked plans, or their normal ADSL2+ plans.

Thanks. Is their modem (Belkin 1-port) and my Airport express with iTunes compatible? What will I pay? Modem $109+connection fee $150?

Just phone them and ask - as an iiNet customer for near 5 years, currently with Naked-DSL, I've found their support people very helpful, and quality of service very good. And they are knowledgeable about Apple, too.

Another yay for iiNet. Been with them since '04 in the central Perth area.

Unfortunately, you won't get prices as low as you are used to here, but I agree that iiNet is a good, reliable ISP with a useful help desk. There may be cheaper plans out there but the reports are that those ISPs usually provide less support.

Another vote for iinet. Have been with them for 10 years. I live in Bayswater so you'll have no issues in trying to get ADSL.

Hope that helps...

if you're in perth, iinet offers the best value overall. If you're elsewhere I'd go with internode, but internode does not cover perth very well at all.

+1 for iinet. Fantastic price, product and amazing customer service. When switching to naked DSL, Telstra stuffed the simple process up in the exchange, and had to call iinet to tell them of the problem on my Optus mobile, which always cuts out. Every few minutes when it would drop out they kept calling me back on my mobile, and were really helpful, even though it was not their fault.

One more question, I think than iiNet modem (belkin) is too expensive and I can buy my own cheaper. What modem ADSL2+ do you use? I need just modem, I have a router and Airport express with iTunes.

I use iiNet like others here.

I have a cheap as hell modem - it's a linksys one I got from Officeworks in Victoria Park.

One word of caution on this. I have two internet connections - one from Telstra and one from iiNet - the iiNet uses the cheap modem and the speeds on it are no where NEAR as fast as the one with the Telstra modem. Though that may be the network.

iiNet has no ports available in most central exchanges in Perth, in my experience. If you can actually get onto their hardware then they are good though.

I'm with Westnet, ADSL1 (8Mb/384K), it's quick, reliable, but expensive. $109/m for 25GB/45GB.

I package it with phone... which I hardly use. Being on a sh1t exchange means I cannot take advantage of nakedDSL or iiNet's hardware. boo
