In the sidebar news item on the front page, iBok sale erupts in chaos, stampede, they reckon the county officials were wondering what they'll have to do better next time. Well, if that locality is switching to Dell, they won't have the same problem next time. Nobody would queue for a free Dell, let alone a $50 one

Awesome... Ahhh soo funny. Its great to see the appeal of Apple extends to inducing civil disobedience when they are offered at a ridiculously cheap price.

This is all over the net, and a most amusing read for the morning. One post on /. - " I am waiting for someone to tell me that these iBooks are overpriced and they can get a Dell laptop for $40."

The only stampede I've ever been in that is close to this was the first morning of a giant toy sale at the local Target (it must have been close to Xmas). All I remember is a mass of kids and parents running like crazy for the bargains - it was not pretty, but as a kid, it was the greatest moment of my life!

It was worthwhile - I scored Optimus Prime AND Megatron, which I then received for Xmas. I wish I still had them.

The thing is, at those big sales, especially at myer, david jones etc, they basically just bring the prices down to a more realistic price, rather than their always RRP prices.

Are they G3 or G4 ibooks?

I've never been to a stampede. Can't go now though, my nails are too short.

Definitely. But, how many times does a kid get the official instruction from his Mum to beat all the other kids to the toy section and grab his favorite-ist and most sought after toys!

Mind you, the number of people crammed into the AppleCenter on Tiger launch night was pretty impressive, and there was a bit of a rush for the limited family packs that were there. I suppose it's all relative - both days felt like being a kid in a candy store
