ROFL, nice one
I've been happy designing/developing web sites on the 15" powerbook I bought a while ago, and now my business partner is using it and I'm using a 17" powerbook.
We've since hired a trainee programmer, who prefers using a PC, and we both give him funny looks when he complains about his PC lagging and needing to restart it

6 months ago after having my PC fall into a spiral of slow startup, hanging, rebooting and generally becoming almost unusable I decieded to see what all the fuss was about and bought a G4 iMac off eBay to 'test the waters'.
With the desk being at the end of our dining room I also wanted something that looked aesthically pleasing, not some ugly beige box and a bulky oversized monitor.
It arrived and I've been hooked ever since. Bought Tiger on its launch and iLife and picked up a second-hand copy of Office on eBay. Along with a few choice shareware downloads (Audio Hijack etc) I now have a computer that is reliable, easy to use and looks a treat. Even though its years old (G4 700) it seems to run faster than my P4 work computer and has none of the crashes or hangups.
Yep as you can guess I'm a convert. Many thanks to all the members of AppleTalk, whose posts and answers to my questions have enabled me to learn so much about Macs in such a short time.
Cheers

My first Mac was back in 2000 and OS 9 - and was a Cube which was given to me!
So although I had been resisting moving to Apple, could not argue with a free computer and my PC at the time was virused and crashing all the time, so made the move and have not looked back...

I voted PC rage, but I didn't really have any. I wanted to get a laptop, and as luck would have it, my nutter friend at work is a big fan of Macs, and made me consider it as an option.

There is no option for why I chose to go with a Mac this time.
It is simply that it was a better machine for the job I was purchasing it for and in that respect I am very happy with my purchase.

I didn't vote. I never switch to Mac. If anything, I've embraced PC's (Keep friends close, enemies closer :P ).
I did convert a friend recently. He never used a computer in his entire life. Somehow, he had the right idea, by buying all the parts seperately and building his own. Atleast he went about it properly.
But after a week, he called me to ask, "are there other Operating systems besides Windows? This is shitting me, it just crashes when I'm doing something really important."
I went to check it out, sometimes alot of Windows crashes are from hardware issues. But everything checked out well.
6 Months later, he bought (1 month ago) a G5 iMac. Called me up a week later to tell me it is still running like it came out the box. Amazing, where his words.

I never really switched to Mac, it's just that I stopped for a while when circumstances changed. I grew up using Mac's, and my first laptop was a trusty PowerBook 165, which I got brand new. When I left primary school, the high schools I attended all used PC's.
Until I moved to an Apple Distinguished School in in 2001, I only had an old LC as my link to Apple. It was old, and not very useful. I managed to muster up the $$$ to get a G3 iMac a year later. I now have a PowerBook G4, which is my primary computer.
So, I never switched to Mac's I came back to them... after a forced hiatus :P

Switched recently after buying my iPod about six months ago. Before that I didn't really know anything about Macs, but the more I found out, the more I liked.
Now if only Apple would send back my copy of Tiger on cd from the media exchange so I can actually use my iBook

Never really switched to Macs. Was with them from the start of my computing history.
I got my first iMac G3 (u no, the coloured ones) 350MHz, 6GB HD, 64MB RAM in 2000. We upgraded it to 576MB RAM, 40GB HD so it could run VP 5.
My mum used the iMac with Virtual PC 5 (VP 5) to trade. The program she used didnt run on macs.
But early 2004, we decided that VP 5 was to slow on the machine so we rented, not bought, a PC Compact. And man it got a lot of viruses. I spend like 5 hours each week updating Anti-virus software and deleting viruses.
Late 2004, a friend sold me his iBook G3 12" 700MHz, 60GB HD. He worked as a tech at Next Byte at the time and basicly replaced everything (exept the shazy, screen and CPU) in the computer so it was basicly new.
But early 2005 i had had enough of the PC. So we took it back after a yr of renting and got a iMac G5 20" 1.25GB RAM, 160GB HD, 1.8GHz.
It runs Virtual PC 7 (because 6 and earlier dont run on G5s) so fast. Probably faster then a PC runs windows. And it doesnt get viruses because the internet thinks its a mac.
So, i never really swithed. Just had a PC for a while. Will never do that again. Evil things they are. I will always be proud to own a Macintosh.

From an Apple IIe to an iMac G5 ... quite a leap but worth it (ok, a PC or two in the middle) ... with 8000 photos of my kids (well it's like I've got 1000 photos but 8 versions of each) the iMac is perfect!!

I never really "switched"....the first computer i ever used was an Apple IIe, and the first computer we ever had at home was a Mac LCIII, so i was with Apple right from the start...but the reason i still like Macs is this....i like to use a computer....not get used by one! (Which is also why i love my job....i have the only job i know of around here where i spend more time USING computers than getting used BY them! :P)

-I wanted a new laptop,
-I wanted a brand-new system to run OSX on (I was fresh-new to it at the time and only had it on a G3-350, which is not bad at all but I wanted more).
-I was about to start a series of websites for work and wanted a portable web server & development system
iBook ahoy!
