I'm sorry but i am posting this in sheer frustration as i speak to apple 'customer service'.

Parts of my wonderful conversations:

having to even explain that being witout my computer for 2.5 months is unacceptable.

having to explain that a delay to fix my computer, because 4 different logic boards are faulty, means nothing to me - just fix my damn computer.

having to explain that next byte IS an authorised service centre (they are trying to pin the blame for the delay on me - for supposedly not taking the computer to an authorised centre). They have since given up this argument.

Being told (again) that my warranty expired in April, despite the authorised centre telling me 2 months ago when i checked my computer in, that my warranty was valid until september.

Having to explain that the repair should fall under warranty because i checked in my computer in march. Even if the warranty did expire in April (which i completely dispute) i still handed my computer in for repair before that bullshit deadline.

Talking to Apple customer service --- god give me strength!

Hang in there man, I know first hand how bad it can be.

At least its not Dell support...

thats interesting, considerring you are a member of our forum! :P Apple aren't perfect, but strong industrial design and a powerful OS are all reasons to like the company.

And woeful support and customer service are reasons to dislike them.

I still haven't got my airport card connecting to my wireless router, and when I called them, their solution was to move the router next to my g5!!! Why have a wireless system in that case??

I disagree. The OS and the industrial design are reasons to like Macs. Good customer service and a strong supply chain might be good reasons to like Apple. I, personally, love Macs but generally dislike Apple. (And I am also a member of our forum - not that that has anything to do with it )

Good idea.

I think anyone having a rough time of it should feel free to do and say whatever gets them what they deserve.
We're actually not doing Apple any favours if we're nice to them in return for poor customer service. In fact, if you have a bad experience it would be in everyone's best interests to take the matter as high up as you can. Document everything and blast them. This will mean that they have to change their policies.

We pay a premium for the hardware, we deserve premium service.

It's no big deal, but I've been waiting 3 weeks for a PM G5. I put in a custom order through my authorised dealer for the BT/Airport option so I understand that it takes longer, but three weeks is a bit crazy. This is nothing like Bob's story, but most of us have something bad to say about Apple support.

Yes, OS X is probably the best OS in the world right now. Yes, Apple have the best industrial design. Yes, they write great software and have great hardware.

However... that's not enough. I have a sysadmin friend who buys heaps of Dell gear, and the stories I hear of service and support are completely amazing. I really, really, really hate to admit it, but Dell are totally awesome when it comes to support (that's not enough for me to buy one though!).

nope. Took my ibook in with fault logic board on a friday. Rang up on tuesday, and got told the replacement was faulty, got a phone call on thursday telling me my ibook was ready with a working replacement replacement logic board. < 1 week for a fairly major job. Go infinite

EDIT: this is probably irelevant though because I did not deal directly with apple at all.

Yes, at least its not Dell support....if it was Dell support Bob would have a brand new computer and a letter apoligising for the inconvenience, and he would've gotten it 2.5 months ago. :P
