Just Got Assaulted By An Apple Reseller!

Firstly, feel free to make of this what you will. Take all of it as fiction if you like. Until any legal proceedings are finalised, any allegations on my part have to be considered just that - allegations which are yet to be proven. Although I am certain my statements are 100% truthful, it's probably best for the administrators and moderators of these forums that you the reader assume (at this stage) it's all purely conjecture. This is simply my account of what happened today.

I am owed money by an Apple reseller (without getting too specific, let's just call them "the reseller" shall we?) near the CBD in Sydney (long story - they sold me a product that didn't work as described). I was assured by a staff member I would be given the money they owe me - he just had to clear it with his boss. This was all initially arranged through Apple Australia. I sent the resellers an email during the week, telling them I'd be dropping by on Saturday to pick it up. When I got there I asked to speak to the boss, who refused to pay up and told me to get out of the store. I sat down on their couch and refused to move until the situation was resolved, and shortly thereafter he physically assaulted me. The police were called.

Unfortunately for him he left a bruise, and I've just come from the police station - he is being charged with assault.

Of course I have no proof that he threatened to put a gun to my head (he claimed to have one "in his draw"), and two other staff members also threatened to "beat the crap out of me" and "gut me like a fish" - but it's all true, as I will testify in court. Luckily I went straight to the police and they checked out the bruise - they said that's proof enough.

I've now got to get back in touch with Apple Australia, who were very helpful in sorting things out initially. Unfortunately, to get my money back, I now have no choice but to get the Department of Fair Trading involved.

So, is a store like this the kind of place that deserves to be associated with Apple?

By the way, the store I am referring to is NOT Apple Centre Taylor Square - they are in my opinion the best Apple reseller in Australia. As this post has been edited to remove the reseller's name and just mention a general non-specific location, I thought it was important to note that. If it is determined that I am legally able to provide more specific information in private correspondence, I'd be more than happy to do so.

This is utterly the worst thing I have heard come out from an Apple Reseller of Apple Australia all together.

I would taking this for as much as it is worth and go straight to Apple Australia who might be able to offer some kind of assistance in the case.

Don't post topics twice please.

[EDIT] Having read your post, I have sympathy for you if what you're saying is true.

But given that there are always two sides to a story, if there's any element of doubt, exaggeration or fiction to your claims, they are potentially libelous to the reseller, and I'd advise you to consider editing your post. Further, as you unfortunately appear not to have had any witnesses with you, you're going to have a heck of a time trying to prove the veracity of what you claim. Make sure you have all correspondence with them and the Police noted and documented.

I hope it works out for you - the behaviour you allege is totally unacceptable.

Well if it isn't an Apple branded product, I don't see what Apple Australia would have to do with it.

sorry to hear...but why would someone threaten to put a gun on your head, simply because of some money? and he must've hit you hard to have caused u to bruise. all seems rather strange. maybe you should tell us the whole story, be it long or short.

Well it would look bad for apple if an apple reseller (even though, yes they do sell other products) was going around beating up clients.

Adam.
I'm right in the middle of writing an email to the guys at Apple Australia (upper management) who helped me out with the situation in the first place.

I must point out that Apple Australia were very helpful with the matter, but still felt (and rightly so) that "the reseller" had to assume part of the responsibility for the situation. Apple have been great, and I feel bad about having to involve them further.

Chucky i would seriously condsider removing the business name in question.

It may implicate things down the track.

Just some advise do with it as you will.

I'm also curious as to how you can contact Apple Australia on a Saturday given that they are only open on Mon-Fri business hours...?

And sorry to repeat myself, but if you don't edit the reseller's name out of your post, you're putting this site in jeopardy. Do it now please.

I assure you there are no embellishments whatsoever on my part. I did raise my voice, but made no threatening remarks or actions whatsoever - all I did was refuse to leave their couch until they paid me what they owed me. Let's face it, today of all days was not the best day for them to have a disgruntled customer on their hands, but that does not at all justify their actions.

I can't verify whether or not he actually does have a gun "in his draw" as he claimed, but I can 100% assure you that he said he did - and I wasn't about to find out for sure.

The actions of his staff indicate that they would gladly lie through their teeth for him, so that certainly won't help my case. I have, however, kept copies of every bit of correspondence from Apple and the resller since this first started.

I appreciate your concern.
