Just interested to see if anyone knew how many times one can use the Leopard install disk before it stops you. I know the box says 5 times, however, hypothetically if I have 5 macs, does that mean I cannot format and re-install OSX on any of them?

There is no DRM on the Apple OS per any Mac, it works on you being a good guy, which all us Mac folk are.

There is no limit on the times you can install. When you install you agree to the EULA which states how many times your are allowed to instal the system. I'm guessing you have the family pack which means you can have 10.5 installed on five computers at one time.

That's 5 computers that live under the same roof.

If you have 5 Macs in the same house, then you can format/reinstall as many times as you like, on those 5 Macs under Leopard Family Pack.

I haven't reinstalled once since owning a Mac... Windows sucks.

Old habits die hard. Re-installing a fresh OS is like putting your old runners in the washing machine, and wearing them for a run. They become almost virgin again.

Thanks for the OSX help guys.

NOTE: If you live in an apartment, this does not men you can give your disc to your mate next door. Even though you are technically under the same roof.

It's one of the only exclusions to the 5 computers rule that I know of

Unlimited amount. I just check that someone has a legitimate disc before I use my own - cloned to a FW400 drive. That way I can do a full install in ~30 mins or less :P

You can do it in under 10 if you do a custom install without the 'junk' (IMO) extras.
