Got extended warranty at Domayne...

Hey everyone,

I bought a Macbook in December 2006 from Domayne in a Penrith store in NSW. When i bought it, part of the deal was they offered a 3 year extended warranty with it. In the first year, the only issue i had was a battery problem, and as i was still in the Apple warranty, i got it fixed with them. Now, my original Apple warranty is over and i have 15 months left on my Domayne warranty. I decided to look for some form of documentation for it, but i cant find anything at all. It doesnt appear they gave me anything to show i had the warranty.

My question is, has anyone here had an experience or know of an experience with a warranty through Domayne? I presume if i have a problem now, i would just take my laptop in and they would have some form of serial number list and mine would be there, and they can fix whatever. Is that how it works? Plus, i was looking at selling my laptop but how would i include the warranty with it?

Thanks for any help,

Lozin.

well if it was applecare all you need to do is go Here type in your serial and it will show you your warranty details ... on your receipt does it say anything about applecare? ... maybe the warranty was a domayne thing i dunno never bought a mac from them before.

The extended warranty from domain would be on your receipt of the Macbook.

The way it works is you take your macbook into domain and they send it away to get fixed. if it cant be fixed they will replace it for the new version or give you cash equal to what you originally paid (up to them)

Extended warranty from Domayne tends to just be a couple of lines on your original receipt - have you checked there?

And the extended warranty they offer is merely an insurance type thing. It will be repaired via the company who offers it, and whom they on sell it through.

It's by no mean's applecare as offered by apple.

I'm assuming the Domayne extended warranty is the same as Harvey Normans. As I worked as a tech for a harvey norman store for a year fire all your questions at me :P

The information about your warranty will be on your receipt. Either 24, 36 or 48 months extra. This will also be stored on the computers systems at the store you purchased it at, so if you lost the receipt there is no need to stress as you can contact them for a copy. On the receipts we also often note the serial number if possible. The odd exception is if the serial number isn't on the box and its not a suitable time to unpack the product to add that on. Either way, you would still be covered.

The ext warranty is provided by a company called IC Frith. It covers the same things the manufacturers warranty would cover. If the HN/Domayne techs determine it to be faulty they lodge it with IC Frith. IC Frith will do one of two things. First option and most common is they request it be sent to an authorised repair centre for a quote for repair, then get it repaired if economical. Second they will ask domayne/HN to provide them with a quote for a suitable replacement. As long as this model meets the same specs as your machine this is fine. EG: An old Powerbook may be replaced with a new Macbook (not a Pro) given that the macbook has at least the same, if not better specs than the original Powerbook. The replacement will only be provided if the repairs are too costly. Also, if the same problem has occured multiple times on the same unit and is still occuring after repairs they will look into a replacement.

Hopefully that will give you some insight into the process, if you have any more questions ask away.

Any Domayne store would be fine if they work the same HN stores. Just make sure you have your receipt. Although you are likely to get more help at the store you bought it from as they are all individual franchises.

You can also contact IC Frith directly. They would have your receipt number on file.
