With a name synonymous with the Manhattan project, you would think Apple's CFO would talk sense.
On the other hand, I think the above is pure BS.
No company deliberately does stuff to hurt their revenue, and that includes Apple. Sure they might invest now in a new product line that will IMPROVE their revenue greatly over the next 5 years, which might cannibalise their revenue SLIGHTLY over the next 1 to 2 years. Do the maths and it works out as a net improvement to revenue, not a net "hurt". It must be, else they wouldn't do it!
Those more cynical amongst us (not me obviously) might even suggest that comments on future revenue sucking might cool their share price for a while, then when revolution #14 happens they will shoot back up again. Some companies (e.g., hmmm, AAPL) have a muddy history of allegations regarding director and employee options, too. Surely though, the CFO is just doing his job and not engaging in any of this sort of stuff.
