I have never been to a apple store in the CBD, and i went to the apple site at it says they have a thing called a "Apple Solutions Consultant", i would gess thats a store.

It says theres one in Myer and David Jones. I justed waited to make sure that they are still there. (Sites are always outdated).

I will be going tomorrow

DJ's in Melbourne has a small area selling Apple hardware, but it's just another department of the shop. Nowhere near the level of stock that a proper Apple store has...

If they did, I suspect we'd see the demise of the Apple Store as we know it...

The guy in Myer Sydney City is quite helpful. And they've got more than just a 17" iMac and 12" iBook on display.

I predict we will see an Apple Store based somewhere near Pitt St in Sydney before the year end. h34r:

That begs the question, how cool would it be to find out what stores have what on display, so people can know which store has the computer they're looking at getting etc. Disko? any ideas?

Apple Store Darwin (iShop) has jack in stock :P

I would recommend going to AppleCentre Broadway. I'm a regular there and have always found the staff helpful. If you know what you're after then DJs & Myer are fine, but if you're looking for advice go to an AppleCentre like Broadway or Taylor Square.

There is a Nextbyte (9367 8585) on the corner of Clarence and Eskine Sts, not far from Wynyard Station.

Don't happen to have the number of them do you? I've been dealing with Mac Centric the past 2 days, and umm I still don't have the email they said they would send.

If Broadway can do what I want, then I think I might deal with them. Might give them a call tomorrow. Only dealing with mac Centric cause 2 guys from my work previously got stuff through them on salary sacrifice (and thus I know they accept purchase order etc)

Still I might have to call Broadway one for a chat.

EDIT: Come to think of it, Talyor Square might be an option too. I think I need to make another 2 phone calls in the morning (before I follow up Mac Centric for the third time in 3 days).

Yeah... We don't have many of those ...

What I don't get though, is you go to one store, and they're like "Mac Mini, iPod Shuffle, good luck getting one of those before next christmas." and then you walk into another store and they have loads of stock... Well, not for long...

Oh I wouldn't say that. The Storage Room ( a huge truck garage) in ComputersNow in South Melbourne have a ton of G5s and PowerBooks, iMacs and iBooks all ready to go. iPods and Shuffles and Mac minis are limited thou :P
