Intel Macsters: Have you shaken the Windows addiction?
Now that the Intel Macs are driving up Apple's market share, someone asked me the question, "What do you think of the idea of every PC OEM following Apple's lead and developing their own proprietary OS for their hardware?"
My immediate response was "Too little too late, the Windows juggernaut is an unstoppable VHS of the IT world. It's the apps that drive people's choice, not the OS." Just about every Intel Mac owner I know uses Boot Camp or a VM suite to run Windows for one reason or another.
Which got me curious. I know just about everyone here is a first or second order geek, but which of you do not run Windows (XP or Vista) on their Macs in any form? This includes Boot Camp, Fusion, Parallels, Crossover, wine and virtualbox, but doesn't include using those same techniques to run some other noon-OSX non-Microsoft OS.
Have you shaken the chains of Redmond completely, or do you still pay reluctant homage to MS for the odd game or mission critical Windows-only app?

I've got XP boot camped for some gaming, more because 'Cross over games' or whatever it's called is awful.
But that's all it exists for.
Everything else is done in Leopard.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have an XP partition using Boot Camp purely for the odd round of Counter-Strike.

Need it for games and some apps that I use at school for assignments. But those apps are in the process of being made available for OS X so maybe I might wipe it clean off my HDD.

No Windows here, I have to however use Windows & Linux at work but my 2 Macs (iMac & MacBook) are entirely Windows free, so for the last 6 - 7 months now we have not had to use Windows at home.
I don't play many games and the ones I do (Sim City 4 & Civilization) are available to me on OS X.
Edit - Although if Citrix Remote Desktop counts as a Windows usage then I do, my wife has to use this to access her work. We did have BootCamp installed as Citrix did not have a version for Leopard until about 4 months ago, as soon as Decryption helped me with that Bootcamp was removed.

I keep a WinXP partition on my Mac Pro so I can play Mount and Blade (an awesome shareware game, look it up!) and to test video files that are aimed for web distribution natively on the OS they're most likely to be viewed on.
Although...if Mount and Blade was to be ported to Mac, I'd probably totally forego having a Windows partition at all.

I don't think "addiction" is the right term when it comes to Windows. "Imagined dependence" maybe ...

I have Windows under Boot Camp and I also run my Boot Camp partition via VMware Fusion.
I have it mainly for Visual Studio and gaming. I pretty much only reboot into it for gaming, though depending on what I'm working on, I sometimes may need to boot into it natively.
I've also been using it to run an IE only application we use at work.

Bought a MBP (upgraded from a MB) to become my main box. Haven't turned on my (noisy) PC for weeks - although it is my file server so I'll have to at some stage :P

I have XP on Bootcamp and use it for games mainly. I VMWare Fusion it for MSOffice and MSProject.
I have tried using open office and Mac Office and have found that while these products do a reasonable job of emulating MSOffice for Windows, there just too many slight glitches and incompatibilities that just irritate me so it's just as easy to use the 'actual' program.
There is no port for MSProject and work uses it as a standard. Sure I could use Merlin or some other alternative but again, why should I when I can use the original
I also use Windows for irfanview the best image viewer editor out there. No alternative of OSX have even come close to the functionality of this free windows only app, so I run this in Fusion as well. Oh I also use photoshop in windows as I couldn't be bothered trying to get a new copy for OSX.
I also have my MBP triple booting with Leopard, Ubuntu and XP (why? hehe. just cause I can? lol)
I guess I use both regularly cause I am not a Windows hater (I actually find it more customisable, just need to know what you are doing) and by using windows either via bootcamp or vmware, I get the best of both worlds. Twice the application choices. I just pick the best one and use it.
I can have my cake and eat it too!
