Well guess what? The NSW dept of education isn't far behind! Maybe worse. I started writing a list spelling it all out, but it could be a conflict of interest so I'll just leave it at that.

Well I know at my school in QLD, we just got approx 20 new iMac 20" with 1GB of RAM for the art block. All are running the MOE version of 10.5. As for teachers, all the art teachers have macbooks, and my philosophy teacher uses a mac. I think for them, as long as it runs word/excel/powerpoint they are fine.

Well at least here in the ACT it's not that bad. (Yet). My son's primary school (publicly funded) uses Macs and associated education software. Had to laugh recently when I was having a look at the latest MBPs at JB HiFi and he pushed me out the way and started playing with Photo Booth, showing me the features. (He is 6 BTW). There is talk of having a consistent ACT computer policy. I just hope that doesn't mean standardise to windows.

This is one lucky school. You would be pretty rare in Qld now. You obviously have some enlightened computer users there. Even though in my school we had 'great' activities being done with the Macs (mainly by me I suppose) it was still hard to get through to the staff who 'used Windows at home' that there was some thing better out there. I found a brick wall mentality from some of the staff and many of the EQ technicians when it came to Mac use in schools.
