Now that the information is made public, I can tell you that there's a strong community within IBM that uses Mac HW to perform their daily tasks. Of course, a lot of the middleware requires a lot of resources and isn't compatible to the OS X platform so having bootcamp and/or parallels/VMWare is mandatory. Hopefully in the future, IBM employees will have the option to choose whatever HW to use for work purposes rather than the Lenovo stuff.

Although this is positive news, it's very difficult to see IBM investing money into supporting Apple HW.

I installed Lotus Notes onto my Macbook Pro on the weekend.

I'm using my Macbook Air as my only machine while on contract here at IBM. Notes sucks as you would expect but all the other apps work nicely and the bluemac application is a nice integrated installer for things like adium (to support sametime) and office 2k4 etc. My only real gripe is that the supplied AV (yes of course they are paranoid) is Symantec 10 which runs under Rosetta.

Actually, I don't think Notes sucks per se, but the Mac implementation is pretty ugly, and the damn thing took ages to configure properly.

Notes sucks no matter which platform you're running on.

Every time I start missing my old job I just remind myself that we used Lotus Notes
