Applecare is a Protection Plan
Is it apply on the new mac?
because i want to get a new mac, and it include the 1 year wa.
so i what i need to do noe is more cost less .... thank you  |

You buy it as an extra. It extends your 1 year warranty to 3 years

If you do not purchase Applecare before the first year expires, you will not be able to add it to the machine. It must be purchased before the first year warranty expires.

That's right - just to make it absolutely clear:
You buy a Mac. It comes with 1 year limited warranty and 90 days phone support.
If you buy AppleCare, this extends it to 3 years and includes phone support. If you want to make use of phone support, purchase AppleCare within 3 months and you'll be able to use it for the entire duration.
Otherwise, AppleCare must be purchased within the first year, to cover 3 years.

when can you use phone support.....?
can they assist with stuff like loading eyeTV, or Non Mac stuff.....or purely software troubles that you buy through Apple?

You can use phone support anytime within the first 3 months, if you do not have AppleCare.
Otherwise, you can use it anytime within the first 3 years, if you have AppleCare (see above picture).
I think it is only for Apple related things, covered by the AppleCare plan only. Not external third party software/hardware.

I am equally confused. I'll try to help...
You buy a MacBook. You have 3 months (90 days) worth of phone support. If you want more than this, buy AppleCare (3 years total).
You buy a MacBook. You have 1 year of limited warranty. If you want more than this, buy AppleCare (3 years total).
If that doesn't make any sense...
You buy a MacBook, you get the white bits only. If you want the red bits, buy AppleCare.
Or listen to decryption... just buy it if you have the money right now. You might need to use the phone support within/after the initial 90 day period. |
