Final Cut Pro HD - Issues with Mac OS 10.4.9

I have had serious problems with Final Cut Pro HD since upgrading to 10.4.9. I've found the following information on the Apple website:

Final Cut Pro 4.5 and Final Cut Express 3.0: Issues with Mac OS X 10.4.9
Issue

Final Cut Pro 4.5 and Final Cut Express 3.0 may drop frames when attempting to capture video if Mac OS X 10.4.9 is installed. Final Cut Pro 5 and Final Cut Express 3.5 are not affected by this issue.

Affected Products:

Mac OS X 10.4.9
Final Cut Pro 4.5 and earlier
Final Cut Express 3.0 and earlier
Solution

Currently, Apple is recommending against running Final Cut Pro 4.5 or Final Cut Express 3.0 in Mac OS X 10.4.9.

Archive and install Mac OS X to revert your operating system to Mac OS X 10.4.8.

This document will be updated as more information becomes available.

Back to 10.4.8 I go

I am having similar problems with my Final Cut Express 3.0.1. I am assuming that even though the article mentions 3.0 and lower that my version would also be placed under those sepcs?

I reckon so new_life_media - I suspect any version under 3.5 would be affected.

I experienced a big problem in 10.4.8 with Final Cut Pro 4.5 which was intermittant and rather nasty, whereby I'd have all the material ready to go, and then I'd hit Render, and FCP would certainly render the film, yet when finished, all the top menus - most importantly: File - were greyed out, and I couldn't Save !

Never found a solution to this one... but then again - I never asked anyone about it, or even know if there were others experiencing this problem.

Problem went away, by Installing FCP 4.5 on Mac OS 10.3.9.

Strange and unnerving.

It has been driving me nuts. I have had so many problems trying to import footage into Final Cut Express since updating to 10.4.9.

I hope Apple get it sorted soon as I don't want to go through the hassle of what they are suggesting at the moment.

I have a feeling that they aren't working it out...upgrade your software or downgrade your OS. If you don't NEED 10.4.9 then Apple wont feel the NEED to fix it. Mght just have to bite the bullet, and trust me, I've been in that situation and it is mch better to do it sooner rather than later, if you know what I mean.

I solved my problem by going back to 10.4.1. It was a hassle but it is now working perfectly again. I will upgrade my FCE to version 3.5 when I get some money and go back to 10.4.9 OS

On another matter, Arkhum_Eramak how is the JVC GY-HD111E HDV? I use the Sony Z1 a lot but haven't had the chance to use the JVC yet. The Sony is good, but I'm not hearing many good things about the JVC
