Oh no... have to demo my macbook.

I'm afraid I was trying to switch my co-workers when the boss decides to volunteer me to do a 10 minute presentation to my unit meeting (about 20 fellow geeks) about my mac.

I'll be wired to a projector... so far I have.....

Talk about cool design
talk about mac unix
show a switch add about viruses.
show how you can install/deinstall a program
spotlight
safari
iphoto
dashboard.
compatibility

It's a bit scary... about 1 minute a item. Can anyone think of anything else I should mention?

Maybe show them either bootcamp or parallels if you have one of the two.
And just show how none of the network capabilities are lost just because it is mac running windows.

Don't try to sell it. Just demonstrate it.

Start with Compatibility, unix, then viruses. Go about the rest of your topics. Finish again on viruses.

I'm going to try to. It's going to be interesting to see what they all think of it.

I will show them expose in my travels, and office.

I agree. Show them what you use everyday, and how your workflow has improved by using a Mac. Show them Office on the Mac, mail, how it networks nicely with other OS's, smart folders, things like that.

These are things that I as a Mac user use on a daily basis, that make the Mac beneficial for me and improve my workflow.

have a heap of apps open then just nonchalantly switch using expose, without explaining it..

rather than show the add about viruses, would it be better to do a google search or pre-research some stats that would sway geeks..

1. If you don't already have Parallels, get the demo and install it, and set up Coherence.
2. Don't explain Exposι, just use it ... but allow 30 seconds to answer the inevitable "How did you just do that?" question
3. Pre-install iTerm and have a couple of shell sessions already open
4. Make a big issue about consistency of the GUI, and how Apple have a long history of "sweating the small things so you don't have to".
5. RIGHT CLICK!!!
6. Full Unix compatibility, including network shares
7. Plays nicely with Windows networking and SMB shared resources.

make use of the obligatory phrases while demonstrating, ie:

'and BOOM, boom, boom.'

That only works if you have your own JPRD (Jobsian Personal Reality Distortion) Field

I'm not sure I have my own RDF. I might sneak a BOOM in though. I think me using expose was how I ended up in this mess.

Unfortunately I don't think I've got time to install parallels. By the way, with parallels, I gather I need to provide a copy of windows? It sounds as though I may have to invest in this product as i have a couple of things I need to run under windows.

I have my remote control handy (first time I've ever used it) and we might build a slideshow. and play it.
