My picture of the 5th Avenue Apple Store, New York -- for the geeks

Hi All,
I'm in New York City until early next year and I thought I would share my picture of the cube:

I was a bit disappointed though that this store doesn't have the theatre -- like the one in Soho. The Soho store in New York was the first Apple retail store that I had visited, and I must say, I was impressed! Since then I have been in the Regent Street Apple shop, the Hawaii shop, and the new 5th Avenue shop.

I am such a geek. (That has a new iPod shuffle! )

I was in London last week and found the Regent St store by accident (I didn't know there was one). It was amazing - packed to the rafters. Can't wait for one in Melbourne.

I did the same a month ago, ducked in to avoid the rain and couldn't beleive how big that place was! Every desk had 8-10 laptops on it with an iPod connected to each one and there were iMac's all around the walls of the room... plus an unstairs... a sight to behold.

I've got photos of a couple of the Apple stores in Tokyo. One in Shinjuku and a bigger one in....ummm, Ginza I think (Ginza was relatively dull, kindof like a European shopping district).

Will see if I can find them and upload pics sometime soon.

Figured I might as well resurrect an existing thread... just got back from a visit to the cube, and it's certainly an impressive store to shop in. The number of laptops being sold was really noticible - every other person seemed to be walking around with a Macbook or cinema display.

I will admit to being a little underwhelmed by the cube itself. Sizewise, I don't actually know what I was expecting, but it's smaller that I expected. It could be because it's dwarfed by the cbs skyscraper behind it, or it could be because I had that hideous pyramid thing in the forcourt of the Louvre in mind.

Mind you, the store beneath certainly gets the shopping juices flowing. That, and the Disney store a couple of doors down...

I've been to two now (Kansas City, Beverly Hills) and to be honest they all seem a bit "Seen one, seen 'em all" to me. Don't get me wrong - I love my Apple gear, but they all seem to have one of everything, about a bazillion iPods, a wall of software and a small selection of third-party gear. Plus of course a Genius Bar.

I'm sure the NY store (and the upcoming Sydney store) has a bigger selection, and I'll still always walk into one if I see one, but to me they just seem a bit...similar.

Looking forward to visiting the Cube in Sept though.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I am posting from the Ginza store and its impressive. Very friendly staff and as I speak no Japanese without sounding it phonetically from a guide book the English speaking staff are great. An oasis in Tokyo. Cannot wait to see it at night. BTW A public thanks to Kuma for some good advice. Id still be at the airport without the train website he gave me.

I was looking for that picture then realised the link is broken probably due to this thread being so old. Send us some screens people!
