Apple Store Sale - December 1st
Don't know if this has been posted before, I had a search, but I couldn't find anything.
Apple Store Australia is having a Black Friday Sale on the 1st of December
Wonder how good the savings will be
It might convince me to get a new ipod now that there is no more edu discount

It doesn't say anything about a sale - only a "shopping event".
If it's up to Apple's usual standard, then don't expect it to be anything astounding.

It's the day after Thanksgiving, so will that event (store discount) be for Australia as well? If yes, will it include online shopping too?

It is for just the online Australian Apple Store only, from what I can see.
In the US, whose equivilant sale is on today, they got like 12% off the 30GB iPod and 9% off the base Macbook, thats a fairly significant sale if we see the equivilant here - But I doubt it will be that good

They had similar "event" last year. I bought Airport Express for $151 during the the event ($43) discount.

Does anyone know if this "sale" is likely to only be on RRP, or on student discounted items too?

Why is the Australian store inviting us back after Thanksgiving?

Apple's After Thanksgiving Sale 2006 [Updated, Confirmed]
Thursday November 23, 2006 05:14 PM EST
Posted by arn
Today (November 24th 2006), Apple is holding their annual Day After Thanksgiving sale (U.S. and Canada only) which is a one day event. What's notable about this event is that Apple rarely discounts their products, normally strictly following their manufactuer suggested retail prices. That being said, once sales tax and/or shipping costs and factored in, individual customers may still do better when purchasing from other online retailers.
Like last year, Apple will only be offering savings on specific products. A list of the discounts are presently detailed on Apple's online store.
Advertised Savings
iPod nano: Save $11-$21
iPod: Save $21-31
iPod Hi-Fi: Save $51
MacBook: Save $101
iMac: Save $101
There are additional savings on a number of iPod and Mac accessories and software. Discounts are also available at Retail Apple stores.
User experiences trying to combine these sales with existing discounts have been variable.

... and as Thanksgiving was on Thu 24th, why is this event being held 8 days later, despite the wording on Apple's site?

Wow, a sale starting just after midnight of PST - Pacific Standard Time. What a very funny time for a sale to Australians.
