Ok. enough is enough.

I've been using internet banking on my mac since i've got it. Every page has rendered fine in either Firefox or Safari (except for a couple of microsoft's pages).

I'm sick and tired of my bank saying this: (see attached pic)

When are they going to:
1) forget about netscape
2) realise that mac users don't have an issue with internet banking
or
3) build compliant banking sites?

Today, i'm starting action. Lets get our banks listed that support macs. That way we can have all the mac friendly banks listed for ease of choice.

I'll kick things off with: BankSA - constant warnings about not using a compliant browser, and links to download outdated ones. But the internet banking and website works fine in both Safari & firefox.

edit: I'll update the list below as this thread grows...

List of mac supported banksBanks that don't support mac

im sure safari will hanle the code with no problems.
it just the ass's in the it department dont have fuckin clue what they are doing.

Safari is built on mozilla which is basically netscape aswell.

why dont they get off there big fat ass's and add the 1(YES ONE) line of code to accept safari as a supported browser

i too get pissed of when i see things like this as safari fully supports all html/css/xml.... standards while IE doesnt.

its a load of crap

Anyway to add a bank that is mac supported

Island State Credit Union(local Bank Here in Tas)

National Australia Bank is fine for internet banking.

To ensure that it works, bookmark https://www.national.com.au/cgi-bin/ib/301_...browser=correct and then you will have no problems.

All the stuff I use on ANZ's internet site is fine. It's quite a pleasant site to use. Comparing that to Bank SA's site is like comparing a Shitty to a Snapper. ANZ's site is way better.

I used to have problems with Bank SA and was forced to use IE for Mac. Now I'll have to try again with Safari.

BTW does anyone else reckon Safari is the coolest name for a web browser?

My keyboard made a spelling mistake. Stupid keybaord

Well other than my work router stuffing up, I can view Citibank and HSBC ones alright on firefox. I never tried it on Safari though. Since I got my mac, first thing I did was to download firefox.

Safari is not based on Mozilla. It is based on KHTML.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KHTML

As for Mac compatible banks, HSBC Australia works with Firefox and Camino, but not with Safari. ING Direct, ING Bank and Commonnwealth Bank work with Firefox, Camino and Safari (from memory).

You should give Safari a shot Jmi. It's a very tidy browser.

I am with the ANZ and they are great. Never a hitch. Some banks, Westpac for one, have Online Banking programs that business customers use. I know that theirs at least is PC only. Commonwealth works fine too, looks ugly though.
